BECKY – the heartbreaking story of Becky Watts
My first book as a ghostwriter was published by HarperCollins on March 10.
In February 2015, Bristol teenager Becky Watts mysteriously vanished from the home she shared with her father, Darren Galsworthy and step-mother, Anjie, sparking a frantic search operation by police and the public. Tragically, two weeks later it was discovered that Becky had been brutally murdered and dismembered.
The horror for Becky’s father did not end there – he then found out that Becky’s step-brother Nathan Matthews, and his girlfriend Shauna Hoare, had been arrested on suspicion of murder.
As Darren struggled to cope with his loss, he also had to deal with the fact that the boy he raised as his own son – the child of his wife Anjie – had brutally murdered his little girl. In a court case which dominated national newspaper headlines, Nathan was jailed for murder in November 2015 while Shauna was jailed for manslaughter.
In Becky, Darren pays tribute to his darling daughter, and uncovers what her relationship with Nathan was really like. And he recounts the torment of the legal battle to see his step-son sentenced to life behind bars.
It was a privilege to be able to help Darren pay tribute to Becky by sharing her story with the world.
